What is it?
‘A treatment using scents’
Aromatherapy uses a combination of pleasant smelling botanical oils (e.g. lime, orange, peppermint, lavender, eucalyptus). These aromatic essences are extracted from plants, flowers, trees, fruits, bark, grasses and seeds, each has its unique therapeutic, psychological and physiological properties.
Calming | Uplifting | Relaxing | Energizing | Cleansing | Decongesting | Antiviral | Antiseptic | Anti-Inflammatory | Anti-Depressant | Diuretic etc
The essential oils are both absorbed into the blood through the skin and inhaled. The aromas work on the brain and nervous system through stimulation of the olfactory nerves.
The massage itself is generally slower and less stimulating than Swedish massage- it warms the skin and muscles to allow the absorption of the oils and lets them do the hard work.

Treatment
The first treatment will involve a consultation. It is important to gather a medical background to establish which oils are safe to use and to ascertain and prioritise problem areas.
I then tailor make an aromatherapy blend of essential and carrier oils specific to you. Once this process is complete we are ready to move on to the massage.
Before each treatment we shall discuss the oils and maybe make some changes. It is also possible to have some nice oils added to the blend to simply enhance a ‘one off’ experience’.
