Massage is a very personal experience and each person has their own expectations. There are so many different types of massage, each with its own purpose. Take a peek at the descriptions below to aid the consultation process, so that you can communicate what kind of massage you desire and to ensure you leave satisfied. It is also important to consider the length of your treatment. A good, full body massage cannot be achieved in 30 minutes. If you are restricted by time I will ask you to pick one or two areas that you would like me to focus on in the allotted time. These organic massages will provide relaxation and ease the mind whist ensuring your treatment is free from all the nasty skin irritants such as petrochemicals, sodium laurel sulphates, parabens and propylene glycol. Instead plant extracts provide therapeutic benefits, harnessing the power of nature. Swedish MassageThis treatment is perfect for beginners. A massage designed for pure relaxation of the entire body that promotes good health and well being. Swedish massage is the foundation of most western massage. It is a good option if you just want some time out. It can also incorporate some more invigorating techniques if you want to leave a little more refreshed. This effect is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes. The hands and palms apply circular pressures, firm kneading and sometimes percussion-like tapping. The pressure can vary from ‘light’ to ‘firm’.
If you prefer more intense work and firmer pressure, maybe consider a Deep Tissue Massage Deep Tissue MassageThe movement for this treatment is slower and deeper- noticeably loosening muscles, alleviating pain and increasing mobility. I concentrate specifically on areas of tension and pain using fingertips, knuckles, hands, elbows and forearms. The pressure exerted on different muscle groups stimulates circulation in areas of pain.
Best results are seen over a course of treatments, accompanied by an integrated program incorporating posture and movement awareness, exercise and relaxation techniques. N.B: There may be discomfort felt during the massage therefore communication with regards to any pain you feel is essential. Soreness may last a couple of days before resulting in the desired relaxation and pain relief. Indian Head MassageThis massage takes place on a massage chair. The ancient art incorporates the back, shoulders, upper arms, neck, scalp and face. It can seem very gentle but it is incredibly effective and has quite a profound effect. It can bring great relief to stress and promotes relaxation. It is a good option for maintaining your general wellbeing.
